Well, I guess because they judge you on your own creativity and originality....and maybe they think using a "ref" pic wouldn't be showing your own creativity....I dunno.....I think if you use a ref pic to get a basic idea of what to draw......but use your own creativity with it.....does that make sense???

It's no good mowing weeds they just grow back, you have to pull them out by hand and get the roots out. I think thats where the saying getting to the root of the problem comes from. |

I see something with glowing red eyes but I wouldn't say it looks like a newborn O_O The upper right quarter reminds me of an ear of indian corn...nice, interesting shapes!
