It supposed to be a japanese torii.
It's my first picture like that (rest is manga/anime or fantasy -- I don't like landscapes, still nature, etc.)
I hate the water -- it;s difficult to draw those waves >_<

Hey i think you did a great job i recognized it right away. The only problem i think i see are that some outlines look sorta blurry and some dont =\. But besides that, good job =P

That's Lava from Vampire Princess Miyu, belive me >.< I used only casual computer mouse, because I don't have pad :(
