I just wanted an excuse to use rainbow colors and practice with figure. Her legs will look a bit odd, but I decided to leave them that way for a more cutesy look.

What can I add, if anything, to the upper left corner? Is the negative space ok? Suggestions on the "Retro" style background are welcome. Please do.

Knees are a little low :o

but it's very cute :D

is that a heartless I seee? B:
Ruthallia (Feb 2, 2008)
Thank you everyone. And thank you Maiko, I'll try to pay better attention to where I place the knees next time (all help appreciated :3 )

Sweetcell (Feb 2, 2008)
It's a sexy pose to be sure and I like her legs like that. Anime limbs are rather distorted.
And as for the bg, well she's brushing her teeth so...... a bathroom. Sink, mirror, toilet behind her. Maybe a towel on the floor to catch the little black thingy. :)
Ahhhh, love to be able to get away with wearing rainbow leg warmers.

You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else?

pretty cool, do more :)
Sweetcell (Feb 1, 2008)
Very trippy. I like the distinction of the eye I just wish there was more distinction on the left. But anywho welcome aboard, read the wiki if you need help learning the tools (Lascaux is the best, try it) and prepare to lose sleep.

So where were you at last?
0706 (Feb 1, 2008)
Thanks all for the welcome, the left side does seem a bit subdued now I look back at it.....ah well good excuse to be more outrageous on the next one.
I did have a go at Lascaux.....more practice needed there methinks as I am a shi veteran stuck in his ways.
I was originally at The Art Corner Oekaki which has slowly descended into The (bad) Anime Corner Oekaki -people do seem to enjoy drawing the same pic over and over ad infinitum...
Sweetcell (Feb 1, 2008)
That's what I hate about a lot of oekaki's, after a while it's just anime/manga. Nothing wrong with that when it's done well I enjoy it but one needs variety and western style painting isn't as popular. That's why of all the sites out there this will always be the best. Here all types of art is done.

While you were gone, my sister had cancer, I can relate, how is your brother?
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 4, 2011)
Clint is in complete remission (he has both types of Lymphoma), but I accredit it first to God, of course, and second to his diligence in taking all of the horrible chemo and radiation torture they put you through. He did that, went to work (as a state trooper), never complained (and I mean NEVER, not in front of me, anyway) and still managed to be a wonderful husband and father to his 3 children, and was also there for me when I needed him. He's my Hero... I admire him, look up to him and love him so very much. :) It's not a complete death sentence like some people think it is, but I know it can be horribly frightening... I was terrified we would lose him. How is your sister doing, now?
lori (Apr 4, 2011)
She got through it too, hope it never returns.

It reminds my of Andy Warhol in a slight way. I like the use of color here, and I especially enjoyed seeing how your composition evolved as you went.

Wow. I know I've said this before, but I TRULY wish this were a giant oil painting I could hang in my living room. It's warm and soft and soooo pretty.
(I love the little bluish touches in the "cold spots" of the painting)
MelissaMissy (Jan 29, 2008)
